One Piece Chapter 0 review

One Piece Chapter 0 is great, full of fan service and fun to all fans and the main point of it is to set up Gold Lion Shiki's plan and why he is what he is. So there will be spoilers in this review for the actual manga so in case you aren't fully caught up just so you know. By the way this movie and chapter has not yet been released  in America.

So first off the manga starts 20 years before the Great Pirate Age started which in case you did not know, it is when Gold D. Roger died.  We start off  by seeing tons of marines much younger looking then  they are right now in the manga.Like for instance Sengoku, who has a afro!

And so then we get to see Roger's crew with Buggy(back when he was a kid) complaining that he dosen't want Roger to fight Gold Lion, Raliegh says that he dosen't have the much time now also. Basically what is happening is Gold Lion wants to partner with Roger because he has something he wants, Roger would not let him have that something because he said there was no point in being a pirate if he could not do what he wanted. Then Shiki and Roger had this huge fight know as "Battle In Edd War". I guess it seemed as if Shiki was going to win but due to a change of weather half of Shiki's fleet sank it seemed a steering weel got stuck in to Shiki's head as the end result of the battle.

Then 2 years later(We are moving along pretty fast this chapter)  Gold D. Roger's Crew are the first to conquer the Grand Line which no one thought was possible. Then Roger's pirates mysteriously disappeared. Then another year later Shiki and the rest of the world figure out that Roger was arrested which really makes Shiki so mad he just shoots one of his pirates out of anger. Shiki goes to Marine Ford Park and goes to find Roger killing everyone in his path. Sengoku tells him that Roger's life will end in Louge Town and will scar many pirate's dreams. Shiki pretty pissed off takes on Sengoku and  his subordinate Garp. When the battle concluded they had destroyed half of Marine Ford and Gold Lion was sent to Impel Down.

A week later the Pirate King died and started the Great Age of Pirates. We then get to see many characters from the manga a lot younger talking about what just happend to the King Of Pirates. Then we get back to Impel Down and see the pirates in there wanting to get out and want to go on the journey pirates seek now. Gold Lion still down and defeated, he still dosen't beleive any of this crap and thinks Pirates should be rulers of the world. And now 2 years later we find out that Gold Lion Shiki escaped Impel Down bye cutting off his feet and replacing them with swords! Sengoku calls Garp about the incident Garp says they shouldn't worrry about it for now sense Gold Lion will take a while to take action on things.

It seems Garp is at  the WindMill Village raising Ace(which if  you read the manga you will find out why) . Then we see minor characters getting show time too like Yassop(Ussop's dad), Tagashi's parents(Zoro's childhood friend) we also see Robin and Franky! Then we see Gold Lion Shiki once more on White Beard's ship, talking to him.  Gold Lion tells White Beard that he is planning to disappear for a while and White Beard thinks he is up to no good again.

So that ends the chapter, I have to tell you that was a pretty good chapter. It was nice seeing Gold Lion's origins and finding out why he had a stering wheel on his head and swords on his feat. It truely inticipates me for the movie unlike the 4 anime episodes which I will  say is a disgrace but that is another story. So yeah I defenitly recommend you read this chapter.  It seems to really gear you up for Strong World, hopefully Funimation licenses the movie soon so we can get a chance at getting this chapter in Shonen Jump just to own it for keeps!
