Romance Dawn review/long summary (Version 1)

One Piece started out with 2 one shot's entitled "Romance Dawn" they came out 1996- early 1997. One Piece later came out on it's own. this is a review of the first version that came out. You may have read this one shot before as it was published in Viz's Shonen Jump December 2009 issue or you may have also watched at the end of last year sense it was just animated.


First off, the manga starts out with seeing a man named Monkey D. Luffy super happy he has found a "Jolly Roger" pirate ship. Which is basically shall I say, the evil pirates. We then see a city with the pirate ship monkey D. Luffy was very happy about.





Then we see a girl named shiruku who wants to fight the pirates. The mayor thinks she's crazy and decides to try talking with the pirates. The town's people are also saying that is Cresent Moon Gyari, but it really is non other than monkey D. luffy who has taken over his ship!

After some useless bickering with the Cresent Moon Luffy leaves the ship, the mayor who thinks Luffy is Cresent Moon says he will give them anything Luffy ask's for some food and the mayor go's right that way! And then he relizes a girl is in there, Shiriku! But she happens to not be afraid of Luffy and swings she swiftly swings her sword at Luffy! luffy quickly tells her he isn't a pirate, but he wants to be. While she feeds him Luffy says he actaully wants to be a peacemain, or basically a pirate who fights evil pirates(morgaia) and go on adventures.

Then we see a flashback that is a actual chapter in the manga, it shows how Luffy got the StrawHat. It started out with him wanting to join the pirate Shanks' crew, but shanks says you a very powerfull speach about what it means to be a pirate. But while he is talking, Luffy rudely ignoring him, eats this mysterious fruit. At quick glances all of the pirates on the ship no what is: A gum gum- devil fruit. Anyone who eats it is able to strech their whole body but at the price of not being able to ever swim. Carelessly though, Luffy goes in a boat thinking all he has to do is not go overboard. Weird how as soon as he says this, a shark comes and bites half of his boat! Luffy needs help and is screaming for it and Shanks comes to the rescue. He looses his arm though in helping Luffy. Later at a different time it seems Shanks is leaving the village, Luffy vows to still became a pirate. But shanks say's"Then I will lend you this hat return it for me one day."

Now back into present time, Shiruku asks if that happens to be Red Hair Shanks. Luffy asks how do you know him and she says because he is a legendary pirate. Luffy didn't even know that though. Then Shiruku decides to admit that she was a pirates child but a abandoned one.Then we see Gyari again saying he will have revenge. Now we quickly see that Shiruku was left behind in the town by pirates that invaded the town. The town's people didn't care she was a daughter of a pirate, they decided to raise her anyway. That is why she dosen't want to see the villagers have sad faces. But it seems as if Luffy ignored all that she said sense he is telling the consessions lady thanks for the for the food.

As he walks out he sees Gyari, who says he is real mad at Luffy. He quickly sends his too sidecicks in to attack. Luffy beats his 2 opponents real quick with his gum gum powers. Gyari says he is really mad now and shoots Luffy with a pistil,  but sense Luffy ate the gum gum fruit and his whole body is rubber the pistol did not do anything.

Gyari and his conrads are defeated and leave again. Luffy decides to catch those guys because he will feel bad if they destroy the town. While goes off chasing the cresent moon pirates are making  a plan of how they will defeat Luffy. While doing so, the town's people, still thinking Luffy is Gyari captures him. Shikiru catches up and says that he is not  Gyari.While doing so Gyari shows up saying he is cresent moon proving so by his mustache. Everything is connecting huh!
 

Shiriku try's fighting Gyari but is horrible at doing so, the mayor says stop but she says if they loose there money, that this village will be known to pirates and there stuff will always get taken. Luffy, acting dumb as usual talks about Gyari's weird beard again and gets hit in the head, says it didn't hurt. After Gyari gets all of the treasure he takes Luffy so he can throw him out in the ocean. Idiotic as he is, Luffy asks if they can save him when they do so, which is a obvious no. Shiriku and the mayor want to save him. But while thinking so, Gyari takes Luffy's strawhat which really pisses Luffy off. I line that I think needs a picture itself >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Luffy decides to bite Gyari(I probably said Gyari 100 times by know lol) This really makes Gyari mad and him over the ocean. Luffy still angry he dosen't have his hat, dosen't even bother to notice he is diving into the ocean(You know what that means!) After Gyari seems to think he has tooken everything, Risking her life while the pirates set sail,  Shikuru saves Luffy from drowning.  Back on land Luffy is ready to kick some serious ass! Shikuru try's to stop but it is no use when it is Luffy you are trying to stop! He finds the highest building in town and jumps on it and streches his amrm's all the way to ship and then seems to inflate himself  to land safley on the ship! Luffy some how quickly gets his hat and decides that he will get back the town's treasure and will sink the ship, which he thinks is Gyari's treasure. Now if you read the manga One Piece you will likely know this next attack luffy pulls to break the ship Gum Gum Axe!(Oda dosen't name the attack in this story but in the manga he uses the same attack and it is called that. Now just to see how much damage he does let me show you.

Pretty hectic, huh? Cresent Moon Gyari decides to say that Luffy will remember him, but Luffy says that he dosen't need to and pushes him off the ship. Somehow Luffy got a small boat on that ship with the treasue and comes back to town with more treasure that was even taken! The town's people are very happy about this and think that they should thank him. Shiruku decides also that not all pirates are bad. Then Luffy sets sail again not what crazy adventures he will see. Then we see a fastforward I guess and see tons of pirates and a much older Luffy it seems. And then we see this which is exactly how I will end this post.
